remember when...

I used to blog? and used to do social things? and used to do things other than study in the library?

yeah. those were the days.

here, I'll show you a few nice little tweets from the other night:

oh... how fun were the nights that I didn't do homework until midnight?? No. ok, sorry I'm complaining... it's really not that bad. I'm enjoying most of my classes, but there was a problem with my mind when I was registering for them. My sister gave me some great advice- take 2 hard classes, 2 moderate classes, and 2 easy classes. That's what I thought I was doing, but instead I got myself into 2 hard classes, 3 classes that require a ton of reading and memorizing and there are quizzes so you actually have to know that material, and one class that requires doing a very long excel project every week. So that's fun.

Ok... done with my complaining because it's really not as bad as I'm making it sound! kinda.

My disclaimer for this post is that it'll be really random for various reasons. The first of which is the fact that I have a cold and therefore just took Niquil. so, that makes me a little crazy. but that's all good.

first off, last weekend I got to go back to Colorado and show Cady around! I would love to blog all about it, but frankly I don't really feel like it. So here's a picture and a link to Cady's blog to read all about our adventures! GO READ IT (: It was an awesome weekend! I missed seeing the stars so much. sooo much.

I'm currently in love with this quote. Don't ask me why.

Dear future husband, let's be adventurers. Let's take long hikes and run half marathons {that's a new goal, by the way} and listen to lots of music {but not country music} and laugh a lot and enjoy everything that this world has to offer.

kay, yeah. this is what I get for blogging under the influence of cold medicine at 1 a.m.

I've realized that I truly love quotes. {if you can't tell by my pinterest right here}

The past couple of weeks I've been going to the BYU gym... and I've sorta fallen in love with running. So there's that.

Also, I've been listening to lots of music. Because I love music. While I'm doing homework I listen to white noise {literally static}, so I have to reward myself by listening to regular music between my different homework tasks. It's a very productive method. Overall, not to brag or anything, but I'd say that I am a pretty good homework-doer.

I wrote a sociology paper based off of this Components of Class graphic. I realized just how blessed I am in my life. I really encourage you to look at it!

I have become the worst texter known to mankind. Exhibit A would be the fact that my total texting count for last month was around 600. For a teenager who used to send thousands of texts, this is saying something. So if you text me, I'm really sorry if I don't continue the conversation. I've become a hater of texting just for the heck of it.

I'm doing intramural tennis with a kid in my ward. Our first match was last night and we have another tomorrow! Oh, how I missed playing tennis.

Cady, Kayla, and I are working on meeting new people. Today I met a kid from the town in Alabama that Zach is currently serving in... how weird, right?!

My Econ class is my favorite. Is that normal?

Sometimes I forget that social media sites besides Twitter exist. Thanks Kayla for getting me hooked on tweeting! I'm also pretty sure that I could do nothing other than quote Cady, Kayla, and my geography teacher. No doubt.

Oh, the mission calls are flooding in! There were several kids from my ward who got calls this week, and there are tons more to come in the next couple weeks!

Guys, I'm moving to LONDON. I still haven't grasped that yet.

And speaking of London, I'm poor and trying to find a good summer job is stressful.

Downton Abbey is  k i l l i n g  me.

I got my Wall Street Journal subscription today. thank you student discount. {first off, I had to for Econ, but second off, I've been reading it via the day old papers at the cannon and I already feel way more informed. which is great.}

I miss the stars so much. Walking home at night is getting to me. There are no stars here {and that's my only complaint about BYU so I suppose I can live.}

Sometimes I really have the urge to buy myself a bouquet of flowers {but not roses. because roses are awful.} There's a completely random fact about me for the day.

I really want to redesign my blog. but alas, I don't have the time, nor do I have the motivation. So I'll have to live with it until this summer.

I used to love my middle name, so I used it in everything I did. Now I'm kinda regretting it. But it's whatever.

This was THE MOST random blog post, and I'm about to fall asleep at the computer. Sorry about that folks. Good night!

Sincerely,
Erica Michelle

80s night.

Last Thursday night, KaylaCady, and I headed up to Salt Lake City to go 80's dancing! Do we actually think that this is what people wore in the 80s? No. But trust me, it was tons of fun getting dressed up crazy and dancing the night away with these two lovely ladies! If it weren't for this little thing called "school" we would do it every single week! {I mean, I didn't end up falling asleep until about 4 a.m. sooo} However, it was a great little break from homework. I'm not entirely sure I'll be doing anything but homework for the next 3 months, so I've got to live it up while I can!
Sincerely,
Erica Michelle

p.s. I've been thinking and praying a lot about what I'm doing with my life {since, you know, I'm at college and have to be figuring it out soon}, so last week I met with a major advisement counselor to talk over my options and I took a really long interests test {I'm not as sure about majors as I was the first couple months of school} and I think I've come to some conclusions! I hope you are all having a great weekend!

another p.s. I'm in COLORADO showing Cady around Montrose and having a BLAST but really, really missing Kayla!

and another p.s. GO BRONCOS.

happy birthday to Zach!

Guess who turns 21 today??? THIS KID! He also has been on his mission for almost exactly 20 months. I can't wait till he gets back in May! Happy birthday Elder Decker!

Sincerely,
Erica Michelle

p.s. I'm sorry to my other siblings and sibling-in-laws that I don't do special blog posts for your birthdays. The only reason I don't is because we don't have cool pictures of us dressed as a mouse and cowboy. so yeah.

best semester ever: version 2.0.

Do you know what this week is? This week is the beginning of my second semester of college. More on that in a minute, though. I'm here to tell you that if you don't own a pair of these pants from Cotton On, you do not understand how to be happy. {kidding.. kinda.}

yes, we posed for a picture wearing our matching pjs. judge us.

Really- this is for your benefit though. you don't understand what comfort is until you purchase these pants. they are about a million times more comfortable than sweatpants {yes. that is possible} and they were on sale for 8 dollars soooo... yeah. I may never wear anything else ever again. ever. and if you combine them with a pair of fuzzy socks, it's basically perfection. From now on, the second I'm back at the dorm for the night, you will find me in these pjs. trust me.

On another note: this semester will be really interesting. Let's just say that I've already spent multiple nights doing homework wayy too late. {and it's only day four} And I've remembered the importance of index cards, free white noise apps, and finding a good spot in the library. oh, and I've also learned that ordering your books 1 week in advance is not enough {says the girl who couldn't read the sociology chapter because she doesn't have the book and neither does the library}. It's ok though. This semester is going to be really difficult and tiring and everything else, but we also decided that it's going to be the best semester ever (: Plus I am actually really interested in the majority of my classes, which makes them seem a little bit easier!

Happy thursday to all of you!

Sincerely,
Erica Michelle

music monday & and new years resolutions.

Right now I'm pretty obsessed with this song. I have a really weird taste in music, so I'm excited that I like a song that'll actually have a chance of playing on the radio... and it also means that I want to tell every person I know about it!

Listen to it. Do it.

This song makes me so happy! I'm pretty sure I've listened to nothing else over the last couple days. It puts me in such a good mood, I tell you. It's also a fantastic way to start your day off. Thirdly, it definitely applies to my life because I think it could be renamed to "Best Year of My Life" because I'm pretty psyched for this year soooo...

I'm ready for 2014 and everything that comes with it (:

New Years Resolutions:

*don't let things stress me out. I only get one freshmen year, so I might as well live it up!
*be healthier {no, I'm not saying run a marathon, but I do plan on getting up to do insanity with Cady and Kayla more often}
*get 7 hours of sleep for the majority of nights {this is going to be a struggle living in the dorms}
*leave my phone in my backpack during the day... and don't check it more than once an hour.
*delete all social media apps off my phone other than twitter and instagram. {check. done.}
*leave earlier so I can walk to class slower. then introduce myself and sit by new people in class.
*completely quit saying "like" {Cady and I have been working on this, and let me tell you, it's really tough}

I am so excited for this new semester and for the year in general! If you have a list of New Years resolutions, feel free to leave a link below... Hope you are all having a great beginning to 2014!

Sincerely,
Erica Michelle

Christmas break.

Christmas break was the best!

1. I got to see my siblings and sibling-in-laws and niece and nephew! {and I got to talk to Zach on Christmas!}

Look at these cute little kids! My dad built them a rocking horse {yep, my dad is awesome} that he gave to them for Christmas.

2. I got to work at the theater... have I told you how much I love that job? I'm thinking about just dropping out of college and moving back in with my parents {that was sarcasm, don't worry! Although I really do love that job}

3. I got to hang out with Kelsey and her ADORABLE new Maltipoo puppy quite a bit over the two weeks. I am going to state this right now: I will own an adorable dog in my future life. No joke.

4. I watched Frozen 4 times, yes it was that good. And I also saw The Book Thief {I highly recommend}, The Hobbit, and Anchorman 2 {which I don't highly recommend whatsoever}. And I also realized that I have an absolute LOVE for theaters. And they're a million times better when you get in free (:

5. I spent New Years Eve with these hilarious kids:

{we attempted a photo booth that didn't exactly work out...}

sparkling cider, of course!

The 2 weeks off were exactly what I needed, but I'm definitely ready for a new semester at BYU!

Happy new year!

Sincerely,
Erica Michelle

BYU-I stole my best friend.

My best friend left for college a couple days ago. That's right folks, Katie is officially a student at BYU Idaho and I'm a little sad about it {and also really, really happy and excited for her}. Don't worry though... this means weekend trips to visit her in the beautiful state of Idaho- because *yes, it is possible* BYU Idaho is closer to BYU Provo than Montrose is {by an entire hour}.

Have I told you that we've literally been friends our ENTIRE lives? Like, even back in the nursery and preschool days.

The memories with this girl are endless. After all, we have been friends for more than 15 years. From having sleepovers basically 99% of last summer {because everyone needs to have their best friend over while they housesit}, to watching millions of movies in the theater {props for both being employees and getting in free}, to denny's runs at 2 a.m., to driving Main while singing along to the radio at the top of our lungs, to our legit FCCLA projects, to all-nighters and facetimes, to playing school with our American Girl dolls back in elementary school, to our hilarious ongoing texting conversation, to everything else in the world... I love this girl and I'm so grateful to have her as my best friend. And I'm going to miss her. It feels different now that we're BOTH away from home. We're BOTH at college, and that's weird.

I'm heading back to BYU today and I'm soo excited for this upcoming semester. I'm ready for some new classes and to be back with my college friends. I'm also really ready for some downton abbey {starts TOMORROW} and getting to babysit the cutest niece and nephew in the world. I'm ready for 2014 and everything that comes with it (:

I'm getting a little behind in the blogging aspect of my life... I mean, I have pictures from Christmas and New Years that I just barely loaded on my computer. But don't fear {because I know you were ssuuppeerr worried about it (; } I'll be blogging about the last couple of weeks very, very soon!

Sincerely,
Erica Michelle
